Cover Reveal + Sneak Peek: BLOOD SISTERS by Vanessa Lillie

April 3, 2023

I’m so honored to be able to reveal the cover for Vanessa Lillie’s buzz-worthy new mystery here on CBTB today! BLOOD SISTERS is a gripping mystery about a Cherokee archeologist for the Bureau of Indian Affairs who is summoned to rural Oklahoma to investigate the disappearance of two women…one of them her sister. The book has already been praised as “riveting” (Megan Miranda) and “bingeworthy” (Caroline Kepnes), and it’s sure to be one of fall’s must-read crime novels. BLOOD SISTERS will be published in September, but thanks to Vanessa and her publisher, we’re able to get an exclusive early glimpse into the book right here in today’s blog post! Read on to check out the book’s gorgeous cover, read a behind-the-scenes mini Q&A with Vanessa, and dip into the book’s first few pages! And make sure to preorder your copy of BLOOD SISTERS at your favorite bookstore while you’re at it. Huge thanks to Vanessa and her publisher for giving us this early sneak peek—I can’t wait to read BLOOD SISTERS this fall!

Cover Reveal + Q&A: THE LIGHTHOUSE WITCHES by C.J. Cooke

March 18, 2021

Last year, I read and got totally hooked on author C.J. Cooke’s Gothic suspense novel The Nesting, a sinister story set in the wilds of Norway. This October, just in time for Halloween, C.J. Cooke is back—and this time, she is bringing readers along on a bookish journey to a remote Scottish island, where the secrets of Scotland’s history are reaching across the centuries. THE LIGHTHOUSE WITCHES will be published October 15, 2021, and in today’s blog post, I’m so thrilled to reveal its gorgeous and creepy cover, and to give CBTB readers a sneak peek into this chilling upcoming thriller. In THE LIGHTHOUSE WITCHES, two sisters have gone missing on a remote Scottish island. Twenty years later, one is found… but she’s still the same age as she was when she disappeared. To uncover the secrets of her sister’s fate, this book’s protagonist will have to travel back to the remote island from which her sister disappeared over two decades ago. THE LIGHTHOUSE WITCHES is a story of Gothic suspense that incorporates an exploration of witch trials in Scotland’s history, and looks absolutely perfect for anyone looking to add a sinister, extra-creepy suspense tale to their Fall 2021 wishlist. I cannot wait to dig into THE LIGHTHOUSE WITCHES as part of my Halloween reading this fall, and I’m absolutely thrilled to give readers a glimpse into C.J. Cooke’s newest release today. Read on to learn more about THE LIGHTHOUSE WITCHES, check out its gorgeous cover, and get the inside scoop on the book through a Q&A with C.J. Cooke!

Q&A with J.T. Ellison, author of HER DARK LIES

March 14, 2021

No one writes a “popcorn thriller” quite like J.T. Ellison. I’ve come to rely on J.T. to deliver irresistible, impossible-to-put-down suspense novels that can sweep me away in their gripping tales—and that’s exactly the kind of thriller that J.T. Ellison has given us with her brand-new release HER DARK LIES. This immersive, Gothic-tinged suspense story gives readers an exclusive invitation to the wedding of the year: the marriage between up-and-coming artist Claire Hunter and Jack Compton, one of the heirs to the vast Compton family fortune. Readers follow Claire and Jack as they travel to Italy for what’s sure to be a picture-perfect wedding… but, in true J.T. Ellison form, things soon take a dark and shocking turn (and then a few more dark, shocking turns after that). I’m so thrilled to be able to share with CBTB readers a Q&A with author J.T. Ellison, in which we explore everything from the inspiration behind HER DARK LIES to the book’s Gothic influences to a secret that J.T. has to share with us about the book’s setting! Huge thanks to J.T. Ellison for stopping by CBTB to share this glimpse into her newest release with us! Read on for a (spoiler-free!) discussion of J.T. Ellison’s HER DARK LIES.

Author Q&A: Eva García Sáenz, Author of THE SILENCE OF THE WHITE CITY

January 28, 2021

Every year, there are one or two books that become what I like to call my “out-of-left-field favorites”—books that I picked up on a whim and ended up just absolutely loving. In 2020, one of my “out-of-left-field favorites” was Eva García Sáenz’s exceptional serial killer thriller THE SILENCE OF THE WHITE CITY. The first in a trilogy of crime novels set in the Basque country, THE SILENCE OF THE WHITE CITY is an immersive, intricate, compulsively readable crime novel perfect for fans of serial killer thriller classics like The Silence of the Lambs. This trilogy has already found great success with readers around the world, and it’s easy to see why: THE SILENCE OF THE WHITE CITY has crime fiction must-read written all over it, from its vivid characters to its chilling central mystery and its immersive sense of place. Today, author Eva García Sáenz is stopping by CBTB to answer my questions about her heart-pounding thriller THE SILENCE OF THE WHITE CITY, and to give us a little teaser for what’s to come in this trilogy’s second installment!
